What to expect

  • The purpose of the intake call is to understand your goals, presenting issues and to assess if we are a suitable fit to work with each other.

  • The intake call will also help to understand the amount of time and resources that you will have to invest in therapy.

  • As my services have an out of pocket fee it is important to note that attending therapy is an investment of time, effort and financial resources. Hence it is imperative that you are ready to do the work, can attend regular sessions and are motivated to make changes in your life.

  • Suitability of fit i.e that we are a good match for eachother, is one of the most important ingredients for successful therapeutic outcomes. If we are not a suitable fit for eachother,  I will try and refer you on to another suitable professional. 

  • Before your call I'd like you to spend sometime thinking about your goals for this block of therapy. Let's say, you look back on this time in 5 years and think that therapy I did years ago was very effective. How would you be thinking, feeling and behaving differently?

  • Ensure that you have a quiet and private space for the call and won't be driving.

  • If you're unable to attend the intake call, please give me 24 hours notice as this enables me to use the time for another person.

  •  It is important to note that any disclosures of abuse to a child/ children during the call might warrant a report to Child Protection Services.

  • Please note that any disclosures of immediate risk to yourself or others will warrant a welfare check by the police or a report to relevant authorities.
